This course is a true Luxury Spa Pamper Treatment for expectant mothers. The treatment includes a welcome massage, non shower exfoliation, ritual full body massage and beautiful treatment masques to the baby bump. Such a unique Luxury Spa Prenatal Treatment will set you apart from standard pregnancy massage therapists and offer you a real competitive edge to help you build your business.

Massage through the ages is renowned for its beneficial, therapeutic and relaxation benefits. Massage is beneficial through all stages of life and can be delivered safely throughout all stages of pregnancy after the first trimester (first 12 weeks). Regular massage can help prepare a mum to be for a smooth delivery of her baby.

With the continually growing belly causing more discomfort, fluid retention and joint aches and pains, massage can bring a great relief.

Pregnancy massage therapy (prenatal) is different to normal massage and the therapist needs to have the correct knowledge & skills to safely & effectively carry out this treatment. A women’s body can be particularly sensitive at this time and care with pressure and pressure points is important.

Extra attention and special care is needed in making a pregnant lady comfortable on the couch. If she is not comfortable or supported correctly she will not be able to relax and enjoy her treatment. This course will show you one of the best ways to achieve this.

Advantages of Prenatal Massage

We highly recommend using The Comfy Client Cushion to make your client comfortable and to also support the growing bump during all stages of pregnancy.

Advantages of Prenatal Massage that a Mum to be may experience:

  • Reduces swelling in hands, feet and ankles
  • Helps relieve sciatic pain
  • Eases muscular discomforts in areas like the lower back, neck & shoulders, hip discomfort and calf cramps. It also helps with tension and tightening that can be experienced throughout the whole of the body
  • Tones loose muscles and relaxes tense muscles helping to increase overall flexibility.
  • Helps with relaxation which in turn can decrease insomnia
  • Increases blood and lymph flow which can help increase the elimination of toxins through the circulatory and lymphatic systems, this improved flow of energy can also help with fatigue.
  • Relaxing – massage provides a nurturing, soothing touch, which promotes
the release of emotional and psychical tension.
  • Massage can help prepare the body for childbirth by loosening the pelvis and ridding the body of excess tension prior to the onset of labour.

Essential Oils during pregnancy massage.

DO NOT use essential oils unless you are a qualified aromatherapist or unless they have been preblended by a professional qualified aromatherapist or reputable supplier. Certain essential oils can stimulate contractions.

Mandarin essential oil blended in suitable base oils is considered safe. It is a cheery, uplifting, soothing oil and is particularly good for calming the nervous system.  The mixing of oils and balms is covered in more detail during the course.

Mums to be are encouraged to have treatment every 3-4 weeks until the third trimester, and then every 2-3 weeks is recommended. Never offer treatments during the first trimester.

Belly Casting

Special Offer:  All Prenatal Spa Massage Courses will include the additional training of Belly Casting completely free of charge!

Belly Casting is a great keepsake for the mum to be. The casting is generally offered during the last 3 weeks of pregnancy. Some parents put a warm blanket inside the belly cast and when baby arrives the shape of the belly offers familiarity to the baby enabling the baby to feel safe and comfortable.

Therapists learn how to perform casting using medical grade equipment that is completely safe for mum and baby. In addition to the Spa Massage Therapy therapists can charge an additional £25-£40!

Advance your career and improve your business opportunities when you add a specialist treatment to your service menu. Additional business opportunities can be found at your local hospital, ask for a contact at the maternity department, this can help you to quickly develop a new loyal client base. Simply leaving leaflets there and at GP reception areas can encourage new mums to be to pay you a visit.
